Constitution1. NAMENational Association of Nurse Education in the Tertiary Sector. 2. OBJECTIVES2.1. To bring together the members' views and strategically disseminate information on issues significant to nursing education and health related matters. 2.2. To provide a forum for discussion and debate, develop policy, share information and provide mutual support. 2.3. To provide a national focus for groups seeking informed comment on nursing education and health related issues. 2.4. To be proactive in providing comment and response to issues of national importance in nursing education. 2.5. To promote, participate in, commission and/or seek sponsorship for research related to nursing education. 3. MEMBERSHIP3.1. Heads of Nursing or their nominee from nursing education providers, as defined under the current legislation. Other nurse educators may accompany the member or nominee to meetings. 3.2. Registered nurses with an identified leadership role in Nursing Education, on written application, support from a NETS member, and majority vote. 4. STRUCTURE4.1. Executive: In each year an Annual General Meeting will be held in October or November. The meeting shall: 4.1.1. Elect an executive committee consisting of three members, with one representative from each of the three geographical regions appointed each year on rotational basis as per point 7. 4.1.2. Elect a treasurer. 4.1.3. Elect an auditor. 4.1.4. Elect a National Coordinator who will organise national meetings as required. Email current National Coordinator 4.1.5. Receive the audited annual accounts for the year to the preceding 31 August. 4.1.6. Conduct such other business as the members decide. 4.2. The Executive shall - 4.2.1. Authorise spokepersons to represent NETS as required. 4.2.2. Liaise with appropriate organisations and people. 4.2.3. Organise the Annual General Meeting and circulate an agenda at least ten (10) days prior to the meeting. 4.2.4. Organise national meetings as required. 4.2.5. Identify and communicate with regional networks. 4.2.6. Action other such matters as the Association determines. 5. OWNERSHIP OF MATERIAL5.1. NETS reserves the copyright on all material funded and/or written on behalf of NETS. 5.2. In any joint or partnership development of documents, ownership of copyright will be clearly identified at the outset. 6. REPRESENTATION6.1. Each Institution or member group shall be limited to one vote. 6.2. Proxy votes will be accepted if provided in writing and dated. 6.3. Representatives from specified organisations as determined from time to time by the Association shall be invited to attend the national meetings. 6.4. On matters where there is a vote taken, the majority constitutes two thirds (2/3) of the membership. 7. FINANCIAL MATTERS7.1. The annual membership fee for the ensuing year shall be determined at the Annual General Meeting. 7.2. The fee will be a fixed sum per organisation and levied annually or upon acceptance to NETS. 7.3. Payments 'towards reasonable costs' for officers to be determined at the Annual General Meeting. 7.4. Authorisation for expenditure will be minuted. 7.5. Outside of national meetings a delegated limit of $2000.00 to be set against invoices that have not been pre-approved by NETS before making payment through the approved processes. 7.6. The membership may from time to time agree upon additional levies. |
